At first I was totally outraged when I read about GlassBooth. That in itself isn’t much I realize, I get outrage over a bunch of things, some not even that significant and some, once I have had a bit of time to reflect and have actually looked at the site or read the article I am outraged by I tend to reconsider a bit. Of course this model of thinking held true for GlassBooth as well.
Basically GlassBooth comes off as a site for the lazy voter. You are given a “quiz” in which you are given 20 points to distribute among 14 different political hot buttons. Then you are asked to rank how important each of these topics are to you on aa scale of 1-5 with targeted questions. After you have gone through that (it takes about 5 minutes or so) the site tells you the top three candidates who share your views ranked by percentage and has a drop down menu of all the other candidates to see how you compare with their views. The NY Times writes about Rage Against The Machine, who have always been a politically motivated group. At a recent concert Zack De La Rocha made a comment about the Bush Administration saying “They should be hung and tried and shot.” Some how, some one at Fox News got wind of this and passed it on to their talking heads, causing Ann Coulter to say “They’re losers, their fans are losers, and there’s a lot of violence coming from the left wing.”
Although De La Rocha’s comments are a bit extremist, his views about how unhappy a lot of people are with the current administration are spreading. That is the problem with today’s political views.
We are a nation with two major political parties. Unfortunately that is the reality of the situation. While there are Independents and Greens neither have a strong enough backing to make a significant difference in how things work around these parts. I have very left-wing views, I feel I am better associated with Independents then with either of the two major parties, but I also want a voice. I am a registered Democrat, in the past I have been an Independent and a Green, but I realized, by being registered under a third party I don’t have a voice in the primaries. Now during the primaries I can vote for the Democratic candidate who I feel will bring our government back to a centralized place. Read more »

As it is an election year, most of us, I am sure, have been waiting to choose which presidential hopeful we will be supporting based on which celebrities have come out in support of them. Well, this just in:
New York Magazine’s Daily Intelligencer reports that both Christina Aguilera (that would be the Pop) and Jenna Jameson (that would be the Porn) have both come out and said that they are backing Hillary Clinton in the Primaries.
I am sure this will help some of you in making your decision once the primaries roll around.
