Well, I guess that is one way to look at this one.
It’s not really that surprising that some people want Rudy Giuliani dead. He has been controversial in what he has done almost since day one. So it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that while he was a U.S. attorney the mafia discussed taking him out (especially since he was going after organized crime).
Well, as it turned out two of the five family heads, mafia bosses John Gotti (Gambino family) and Carmine “The Snake” Persico (Colombo family) were in favor of having Giuliani sleep with the fishes. But this is all kind of old news. The memo that states this is from 1987 and was found in a file being reviewed during the prosecution of a former FBI agent Roy Lindley DeVecchio who is on trial for leaking information.

Everyone can breath a sigh of relief: Law & Order will return to NBC for its 18th Season. I know we were all a bit concerned there for a minute, but the deal has been made for both Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU to return to NBC in the Fall (either at the beginning of the season or mid-season (yet to be determined). I guess the real news is the Law & Order: Criminal Intent will not be returning to NBC. Instead they have been vollied to the USA Network who will now be airing first runs instead of jsut the re-runs they have been playing. When NBC gets bored they will air re-runs of USA’s episodes. The full article from CNN can be found here.
Also, in other Law & Order news: check out the coloring book here.
And could Fred Thompson be running for President? Apparently, according to a poll from 2 months ago he was tied with Hillary in terms of popularity. A Bloomberg poll has him polling just under Giulliani in popularity.

In a week where the media headlines were dominated by the Virginia Tech Massacre and Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, it’s important to also not some other headlines that should be getting some attention.
The first is the one Adam posted below “Iran Exonerates Six Who Killed in Islam’s Name.” Which ranks #6 in the NY Times most emailed articles (#1 being the all-important “But What if You Get Hit By a Taxi?” about Men’s underwear and #5 being “Bereft of BlackBerrys, the Untethered Make Do” about the 12 hours people had to deal without having email on their BlackBerrys)
The next article just cracks the top 10 most emailed: At #10 “Justices Back Ban on Method of Abortion.” About the Supreme Courts ruling that was released yesterday which will probably play a factor in the 2008 elections, especially with Giuliani supporting the Supreme Courts ruling while Obama has been quoted saying “I strongly disagree with today’s Supreme Court ruling, which dramatically departs from previous precedents safeguarding the health of pregnant women,†Mr. Obama added. Even Justice Ginsburg came out saying that “this way of thinking reflects ancient notions of women’s place in the family and under the Constitution — ideas that have long since been discredited.†and wrote, as the voice of the 4 dissenters, that the decision is “so at odds with our jurisprudence†that it “should not have staying power.â€
