At It Again

jlbad1.jpgLast year around this time we brought our readers attention to a job called the Junior Lucky Bastard, offered through Fifty Five DSL.

Well, they are at it again, this is your chance to apply for the Junior Lucky Bastard job, here is how they sum it up:

Even HotJobs Doesn’t Use HotJobs

Does anyone wonder why Yahoo! isn’t quite as big or dominating at Google is? Well maybe it has to do with little things like this.

Although you will need a MediaBistro account to access it, allow me to tell you what it is: The link is a posting for a job, on MediaBistro for a position at Yahoo!’s HotJobs where you can go search for and post job openings.

So just to clarify for anyone who is feeling a little slow today HotJobs is using other job posting sites to fill positions at its own job posting site. Now this may say a few things about HotJobs:

1. The type of person looking for jobs at HotJobs is below the quality of person that HotJobs would want to hire

2. HotJobs is so under staffed that they can not even handle posting their own jobs

3. There are not enough people actually using HotJobs to make it worth while to post the job description there

Now I am sure that HotJobs probably has it posted on their own site, but I have to say, it is pretty sad and doesn’t speak too well of HotJobs in having to go else where to post the description as well.

InterviewUp is a site that allows you to do all of this. Conceptually it is a really nice idea. Folks sharing their experience with others and helping out others who might be in a tough spot, the whole idea of a nice, working community. In actuality I have my doubts about how effective a website this is. Read more »

Stating the obvious

I got all excited, the NY Times had an article titled “What to Do About Wonderlust” which examined the question of jumping from a career where you have established yourself to a totally new career.

My excitement waned a bit when after reading the first question (should you even consider such a change?) the answer was “Making a 180-degree change in midcareer can be a big financial and professional risk, but sometimes it is a risk worth taking.”

No shit.
(Continued after the jump, also, I’ll explain the picture after the jump)
