Bill Cosby Shot at the Waldorf

Bill Cosby Shot at the WaldorfSome time AM photographer and always friend to AM, Fubz got a chance to snap a few pictures of DJ Clark Kent presenting Bill Cosby with a pair of Black History Month Nike Air Force 1s (yes, Nike certainly does know how to capitalize on virtually everything). The presentation of the shoes was captured by Fubz for Kix And The City.

Speaking with Fubz afterwards, he described it as something that was straight out of a scene of a gangster movies like GoodFellas- Fubz and Clark Kent were led backstage to a special area. There, the man of the hour, Mr. Bill Cosby himself, was sitting alone in his tux in a small caged in area at a dinner table, munching away at his salad.

Fubz got right into shooting as Clark Kent presented him with the shoes. Before Cosby opened them he reprimanded Fubz, asking “What would your parents think, don’t you have any manners you haven’t even introduced yourself yet.” After chatting for a few more minutes Fubz got back to shooting and got some more pics of Cosby admiring the sneakers. You can check out the full set over at Kix and the City (be forewarned, it does load a little slowly)

Bring That Beat Back

There is an interesting little article from this month’s Wired about the Rza from Wu-Tang Clan, well, actually more so about the music… Okay, the samples in the music.

Rza discusses some of the Kung-Fu movies samples he and the Wu-Tang clan have used in the past and Wired breaks it all down with the movie and at what point in the movie the sample appeared. Then there are audio clips from the Rza commenting on each sample as well as the full recording of the interview at the bottom.

If you are into discovering the origins of samples, like the Wu-Tang Clan or just want to waste a little time today it is actually kind of neat to check out (plus if you are in to old Kung-fu movies there are a few “can’t miss” titles on the list as well.

*Thanks to Fubz for the photo and tip-off

Like Night and Day

This is just a website I came across recently: Hours of Darkness is a collection of NIght and Low-light photgraphy.

What you end up with are a number of striking images taken between dusk and dawn (and some taken inside during the day). Beautiful dark blue and purple skies, intense light and incredible colors. A mix of urban and suburban images with pictures taken at the beach, cemeteries, next to train tracks and of the New York skyline. The photgraphers are a collective whose focus is night photography, they even have a section on the type of equipment you will need and the best techniques that they employ to get their shots. There are some really incredible photos there.

Also on the night photography front- Fubz posted a few night images over on his site today, and has been posting a lot more of his images in the past week on his site.

Lightning Crashes

LES Lightning - August 3rd, 2007

This photo was taken from a 4th floor window (through a screen) on 6th Street on the Lower East Side right before the thunderstorm a week and a half ago. I totally got caught and soaked in it.
