Why do they insist on keeping Leno on TV?

I’ve been paying a bit of attention to the war going on at NBC between Conan O’Brien and the executives and Jay Leno, etc. I think it’s pretty crappy what the network has done to Conan. Perhaps I feel that way because I’ve always thought Leno was a terrible comedian who destroyed The Tonight Show. During that hour I was always watching Letterman, who I find to be much more intelligent and funny with wonderfully dry sarcasm. Conan I’ve been more or less lukewarm toward, but I’ve occasionally laughed a lot at this show.

Watching this clip is so gratifying because Jimmy Kimmel just keeps skewering Leno again, and again, and again…

Also The Onion had some funny things to say about this drama, as it calls to mind the drama many years ago when Letterman thought he was slated to take over The Tonight Show after Carson’s departure until Leno swooped in.
