It is about time the Obama Camp went on the attack

  1. I don’t think they had computers or taught economics in the HANOI HILTON. You people have no respect for the Patriotism and Service of John McCain, who has served in the U.S. Senate for 16 years after a distinguished career in the Navy. He has been there to lead this country through some terrible crises. Obama can say he respects McCain’s service all he wants, but a commercial like this shows no respect.

There are other commercials in which McCain is criticized for being wealthy. My goodness! “Property is the fruit of labor…property is desirable…is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.” That’s Lincoln speaking, by the way. The Democratic party will ever fail to understand that an attack on the rich is a no win argument. Everyone thinks they’re going to achieve riches. Consider lottery participation. To attack riches is to attack the fervent dreams of the poor. It’s easy to confuse such an attack with an attack an opportunity.

John McCain is letting his handler confuse the issues, but look at the man’s record for yourself and make a decision. Does he support torture? Of course not. Is he in favor of tax breaks for the rich? Of course not.

We’re told he voted with Bush 90% of the time. What does that mean? Bush doesn’t have a vote in the U.S. Senate. Does this mean 90% of the bills McCain voted for were signed into law? Well, that makes sense, no? Most bills that pass are those that the President has said he’d sign. It’s very rare for a bill to make it to passage when it has no chance of being signed. The Congress is not a trivia show. Good Senators use votes and trade votes to help with the passage of bills they favor. They are not necessarily 100% behind every single vote they pass, but they make comprimises for the overall good of the country. That’s why the Democrats votes for the Patriot Act and to authorize funding for the War in Iraq. These are complex matters, not simple. That is why Governors have an easier time running for President than do Senators, who have more votes to account for, though these votes speak of larger actions and not of their innermost thoughts.

Remember, we elect these people to represent us. How has McCain represented the interests of the U.S. and of Arizona? Look to THAT.

  2. Yeah but McCain is old. Do you see the way a guy delivers a speech? He’s at least partial senile as well. What happens if the guy dies in office, or goes crazy, who is going to replace him? That’s right, Pole-In from Alaska that’s who. America couldn’t even stand a full season of that Geena Davis show about a woman president, how well do you think they’ll go for the real thing.

    We’re fucking doomed.

  3. Listen, McCain is going to live forever and even if he doesn’t I don’t think there’s been a functioning intellect in the white house for 8 years and everything’s ok, so what are you worried about?

Palin seems awfully spry to me. She can obviously tell a convincing lie (convincing to 51% of the population) and she’s likable, maybe even more likable than that smug overachiever who could have solved all this by making Hillary his vp.

  4. Ah yes, the infamous troll, welcome to A|M, enjoy your stay, but not for too long..

  5. Which one? Any one of those seem a little unreal to me.

  6. Sunk to new lows have we! Not so, friends; American political campaigns have been filthy since the founding of the Republic. Democracy is a dirty filthy mess, but so is governing a country with over 300 million people. What I say is “Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out.” I Claudius.
