I worked in a Starbucks briefly, and during the extensive training (we sipped coffees and did food pairings, it was kind of fun) we learned that darker roasted coffees - the ones most people associate with Starbucks, actually have slightly less caffeine than milder roasts (like their Breakfast Blend).

Last week I met with a client at 8:30 pm at Starbucks. We spoke for about half hour, during which time I drank a small sized cup of their coffee. For some reason unbeknownst to me I did not request decaf, the result of which was that when 3:30 am rolled around I was still doing the same in my bed.

The amount of caffeine contained in their coffee is far in excess of what is reasonably prudent for a human being to imbibe. We don't allow smoking anywhere anymore, but we still allow people to drink Starbucks.

Terrible stuff, it ought to be banned.
