Stuff white overeducated coastal Americans like

Thanks to Jason Ihle for pointing us to this site: Stuff white people like.
I think, to be specific, the site’s founders are referring (based on their posts) to stuff that college educated liberal coastal-dwelling American white people like. Not just people of pale complexion globally.
Surely the Irish (for instance) would not take kindly to being so typecast just because of their skin color.
Some of their points are really dumb, but some like #62: “Knowing what’s best for poor people” hit close to home:
It is a poorly guarded secret that, deep down, white people believe if given money and education that all poor people would be EXACTLY like them. In fact, the only reason that poor people make the choices they do is because they have not been given the means to make the right choices and care about the right things.
So, that is totally true. What is equally true, and here distilled quite brilliantly, is (#50) the role irony plays in allowing “cultured” people to go slumming:
White people hate a lot of stuff (white people who vote republican, television, Vin Diesel movies, SUVs, fast food) but every once in a while they turn that hate into sweet irony … examples would include white people getting together to have a ‘white trash’ night where they would eat Kentucky Fried Chicken, drink Bud Light and watch Larry the Cable Guy or The Marine. Maybe listen to Kid Rock or P.O.D. These events allow white people to experience things they are supposed to hate, all while feeling better about their own lives, decisions, and cultured tastes.

This site is brilliant. I can’t believe someone would spend so much time creating this. Point #99 should be “Creating pointless and obsessive websites a.k.a. blogs.”
