Even HotJobs Doesn’t Use HotJobs

Posted by Matt Cipriano | 1 Comment

Does anyone wonder why Yahoo! isn’t quite as big or dominating at Google is? Well maybe it has to do with little things like this.

Although you will need a MediaBistro account to access it, allow me to tell you what it is: The link is a posting for a job, on MediaBistro for a position at Yahoo!’s HotJobs where you can go search for and post job openings.

So just to clarify for anyone who is feeling a little slow today HotJobs is using other job posting sites to fill positions at its own job posting site. Now this may say a few things about HotJobs:

1. The type of person looking for jobs at HotJobs is below the quality of person that HotJobs would want to hire

2. HotJobs is so under staffed that they can not even handle posting their own jobs

3. There are not enough people actually using HotJobs to make it worth while to post the job description there

Now I am sure that HotJobs probably has it posted on their own site, but I have to say, it is pretty sad and doesn’t speak too well of HotJobs in having to go else where to post the description as well.

Yahoo! and HotJobs post on other sites, that is common sense for a business. HotJobs is now the second most trafficked site for recruiment in the U.S. posting gains of 65% increase in traffic year over year. They are partnered with 1/3 of the nations newspapers and have upped their spend on Yahoo!’s Network. You might want to think again because the real losers out there right now are Monster and CareerBuilder.
