NotchUp: Earn money to interview for jobs

Notchup: get paid to interview for jobsTip of the hat to MyMoneyBlog, the best personal finance site on the web, for informing me of this.

One of the major problems with the current hiring paradigm in the U.S (and probably everywhere) is that the best people typically don’t interview for jobs. At least, not when companies want them to.

Ideally, companies want someone who is happily employed and good at what they do. But those people need to be poached or courted and it’s difficult to even find them.

The brilliance of Notchup is that the site aims to find these people and get them to the interview by offering them a simple incentive: money (just for attending the interview whether you take the job or not). Very simple and probably very effective.

I’ve already signed up. I like my job and am not interested in getting a new one at the moment, but the Notchup calculator says I can reasonably charge $250 for my time, and I like the sound of that! That’s four or five interviews = new flatscreen tv!

And if an outstanding offer comes along, which is what employers are hoping to the provide, my guess is many people will get a lot more value than the money they took to attend the interview in the first place.
