Where’s My Money?

Posted by Matt Cipriano | 10 Comments

* Remember that bank account you had when you were a kid? You are probably wondering now ‘whatever happened to that?’ Well, with any luck it was a savings account and the bank has been acquired by three or four other banks over the years and it is still sitting there making money.

The real question is how to find that money. May I suggest MissingMoney? MissingMoney is a website that works in most of the fifty states, simply type in your name, hit enter and it searches for all unclaimed finds in your name or in a name similar to your name (like M. Cipriano instead of Matt Cipriano).

Pretty nifty (until you make your claim on the funds and discover that you are owed less then the price of a postage stamp) and could be worth checking out. And if you all of a sudden discover that you have millions in an account that you had forgotten about remember who told you about the site I am totally willing to accept gifts, the more generous, the more willing I am to accept them.

* I specifically chose the dancing dollar because I knew Josh would be bothered by it

Josh isn’t the only one bother by it. I suggest adding flashing text to the post as well.

And those “ants” that crawl around words.

Your both just jealous cause you can’t dance as well as an animated dollar sign…

I was able to recover a $150 commission check that I earned in 1997. I have no idea how the money fell into this system but I’m glad it did. Using the service was tantamount to finding a large wad of cash in my jeans.

For the record Eric, I wrote the post… Not Josh… Second time this month some has confused what I wrote with what Josh wrote. You can tell my posts by poor punctuation, mis-spellings and the misuse of then/than. Oh, and the odd turns-of-phrase (turn-of-phrases?) that I go with

If Commerce Bank was to produce a commercial directed by Mel Stuart, that dancing dollar sign is what ti would look like.

Matt, I’m glad you at least recognize your spelling mistakes, punctuation errors and confusion of then/than (which you actually got wrong in this post).

I never had a bank account when I was a kid, but then I didn’t grow up in a gated community like Josh (it’s been a long time since I threw that one at you).

I did have $150 worth of Savings Bonds which I cashed out for the whopping total of about $400 before moving to Europe.

Many a fortnight Josh and I would hop the fence in the back of our safe, rich and gated community, and travel through the outlands of Syosset in search of adventure. Even though there was no adventure to be found =/

    ah, memories.

I fixed it so that Eric now doesn’t thank anyone. But he did recover his $150. It’s true. And he owes Matt lunch. Or, since I brought the post to his attention, he owes us both lunch.

I think Josh is right about that…
