Rambo!
Today, I’m going to see Rambo. I hear it’s a carnage-heavy piece of crap, but I’m hoping for more empirical evidence of that.
The official web site (with trailer).
The consensus at Rotten Tomatoes.
NYTimes critic A.O. Scott trying to hide his enthusiasm.
A suspiciously wrinkle-free Sly Stallone trying to look introspective.
I recommend attendance. “Go live your life while you’ve got a good one.” Words of wisdom, Mr. Rambo.

Just remember, you have up until the last 30 min of the film to walk out and get your money back

I see presidential material there.

After beginning to fade into obscurity and irrelevancy, Sylvester Stallone has now made two franchise sequels in as many years to films he hasn’t touched in two decades. How interesting that he wrote and directed both. Notice also that they were named “Rocky Balboa” and “Rambo” instead of Rocky VI and Rambo IV, respectively.
And to think that in 1997 Stallone looked on the brink of a comeback as far his acting chops are concerned with “Cop Land.” What’s he done since then? A voice in “Antz” and then “Get Carter” and “Driven,” two films that were not well-received, to say the least. After that he’s got credits for two films I’ve never even heard of (like the last ten years’ worth of Steven Seagal films) and then “Spy-Kids 3-D” followed by a 3 year absence.
This is a guy who has made history books by being nominated for more Razzies than anyone (29 times, although amazingly none for “Rocky Balboa”).
Unfortunately, because of the terrible sequels, people tend to forget that the first “Rocky” is an American classic often voted on lists of the best American films of all time, that Stallone was Oscar-nominated for Best Actor and that “First Blood” is actually a decent film.

What’s the verdict? Steaming pile of dog crap or the Citizen Kane for the next generation?

You guys are slacking off this week.
Nothing about the state of the union? c’mon!

You are totally correct. It has been a busy week for all. We need to find some people who can act as a hedge for when we are busy. Maybe some unemployed people.
