Wines of FreshDirect: A Pinot Grigio Yawner

Posted by Eric Hazard | No Comments

Looking for a wine that has as much personality as Ben Stein on Xanax? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Then please allow me up front to apologize for the 36 seconds of your life you’ll give up to read about a boring Pinot Grigio.

Santa Sulva

Winery: Santa Sulva
Grape: Pinot Grigio
Region: Argentina
Year: 2006

Source: FreshDirect.com
Price: $10

Color: Straw

Nose: Light hints of lime, wildflowers and honey. The scents are hard to detect as the bouquet is not very aromatic.

Taste: The wine is sweet up front, though the sweet flavors are not really distinguished. I picked up melon, lime and tart berry during my tasting. The light bodied wine finished abruptly, leaving tart fruit.

What I like: The wine is easy to drink. Not much else to say in that category.

What I don’t like: The wine is uninteresting and it is just kind of there. It is nothing to get excited about.

As with Anna Karina, we prefer to remember the U.S.A as she was in the 1960s.
