Mighty Leaf Tea

A while ago, I wrote about Revolution Tea. I thought it was incredible tea with really impressive packaging. Then I met a representative for Mighty Leaf “Artisan-Crafted Whole Leaf Tea Pouches.” Admittedly, their packaging is pretty ho-hum. Nothing too impressive and pretty typical for tea packaging. The tea bags (or, as they call them, “pouches”) are silken and biodegradable and, if I recall correctly, they are the only company using the machine they have to make them (originally they used the same type of pouches that revolution used, but found the ones they now use to be better).

While Revolution had sent me boxes of tea, Mighty Leaf sent me individually wrapped tea pouches of a bunch of their flavors. I guess, in all fairness, I can’t really compare their packaging since all I saw were little paper packets as opposed to their boxes of tea. I can however talk about their tea’s taste.

As I said, I’m a big fan of Revolution. The first packet I opened of Might Leaf hit me in the nose: I found the scent to be a bit overwhelming. It was their Green Tea Tropical (Revolution has a Tropical Green Tea). I figured that with such an overwhelming scent the tea itself was going to be overly flavored, knocking out the taste of the green tea. Wow, was I wrong. It was a really well-balanced cup of tea. Although the flavors were more intense then Revolution they were not at all overwhelming. In fact, it kind of made it seem like Revolution was lacking in the flavor department. This kind of sums up my entire experience with the Mighty Leaf flavors I tried.

Each tea was very well balanced and full of flavor. I tried the Orange Dulce, which reminded me of a creamsicle (which is a pretty odd sensation…it smelled exactly like a creamsicle and had a similar taste but was hot…very odd), the Organic Earl Grey, the Chamomile Citrus, and the Mountain Spring Jasmine. As I said, they were all great. They have a variety of other flavors as well, and are continuing to expand; they are starting to release organic varieties of the flavors they already have in place.

They push their teas as “meticulously handcraft[ed] whole leaf teas that touch all the senses.” Always an interesting statement. The taste, scent and appearance were all great. I can’t really comment on the feel of the teas (they were all in bags) and, well, they totally failed on the sound test (they didn’t have any sound), but I am not really sure if teas should have sound. But if you are going to say that the teas touch all the senses…I also didn’t see any dead people, so it clearly doesn’t effect the Sixth Sense either.

If you like teas or are just looking for a great tea I’d really suggest giving Mighty Leaf a shot. It is some Tasty stuff.

Hi Amie- I have found that there are some decent bagged teas out there, however my next tea piece will be about loose tea. I received some tea from Artisans Cup that I still need to write a review on
