Intelligent Criticism in the Service of a Better Nation

Do you work insane hours? Barely have time for a life, but crave the affection of a pet?

Well then FlexPetz is for you, according tot he website:

FLEXPETZ is a shared dog ownership concept that provides our members with access to a variety of FLEXPETZ dogs… Through the FLEXPETZ shared dog ownership concept, members can spend from just a few hours to a number of days with each of our dogs.

That’s right, there is no longer any responsibility involved in owning a pet, you can spend as little as just a few hours a week with a pet, using it to pick up dates at a local park or give you the loving in your life you are so dearly missing. What have we come to that people can now have pets on a time-share basis?

If you don’t have the time or patience to have a full-time pet in your life, well then maybe you shouldn’t have one. To me this would seem to border on animal cruelty when the pet has no stability in their life. Maybe folks should start treating animals as if they were living things rather then just accessories for their trip to the park. kind of like adopting a child on Friday and returning it to the orphanage on Monday. Is there anything else in our lives we can turn into a disposable commodity?

OK. This one bugs the hell out of me. It’s like some Russian bride web site, but for dogs. Like some kind of animal escort service…

Pets are supposed to be members of the family, not rented out like hookers!

Still, I guess it’s better than being special 12a with duck sauce.

As with Anna Karina, we prefer to remember the U.S.A as she was in the 1960s.
