This could cause them to explode. Also, as with all florescent lights, the most energy is used when you initially turn them on. After they are turned on, florescent lights use a tiny amount of power. It takes hours of use to equal the amount of power used to turn the light on. Therefore, don't go turning your Compact Fluorescent light bulbs on and off like you do with incandescents.
